About the Tourney

Since 1985 the 72-hole Tourney has been run each summer over the St. Andrews links courses.  Originally found on the Eden and New courses, it is now usually played over the New and Jubilee. However, the 40th running in 2024 saw it on the Eden and Jubilee.

The first Tourney featured a small group of 6 and has steadily grown to around 30 players.  However, in a nod to the occasion, 40 players were invited for the 40th running.  Over the years, more than 130 individual golfers have featured in the event, with golfers arriving from all corners of the UK, plus players who have appeared from Argentina, Australia, Croatia, France, New Zealand, Qatar, Spain, the UAE and the USA. ​It is always held on the same weekend in July as the Open, unless that is held in St. Andrews, and the Tourney is then moved by a month into August.  ​
